Recentemente uma colega minha tradutora publicou o seguinte texto na sua página do facebook:

""note: I translate into European Portuguese.

My client:
"I’ve been warned they’re [clients] also looking at using our version for Brazil, I think their Brazilian interviewer will be adapting the script at their end. However, if applicable please use the new spelling rules in this one."

My answer:
"The new PT spelling rules aim the uniformization of the spelling, but that does not happen with all the words.
Also, there are several linguistic and cultural differences that set apart European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese.
Having this said, I will produce a correct text for European Portuguese market, but I cannot guarantee that the same text will be adequate to use in Brazil.
If your client wants to adapt my text after I finish my translation, he might (and should) do it."

So, it looks like we still have to explain PMs (over and over again) that European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese are different. There's no such thing as a "single text fits all"."

Algum comentário? Afinal podemos traduzir para os dois "portugueses" ou não?
